The KE&G Apprenticeship Program for Operators is a 3-year program consisting of 6,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT), as well as 432 hours of related instructional training (RIT). In each of the three years, apprentices will complete 2,000 hours of designated OJT, which is field work, and 144 hours of RIT in a classroom setting. Throughout this process apprentices will be formally trained on a variety of equipment and taught the proper procedures behind operating safely.

The Apprenticeship Program teaches a variety of operating skills that we feel are necessary for the development of a resourceful and well-rounded journeyman Operating Engineer.
