Snyder Hill PS Forebay Rehabilitation

The SHPS Forebay Reservoir is the gateway for water from the CAP system into Tucson Water’s distribution; 80% of Tucson’s water flows through this structure. The rehabilitation included removing and disposing of the reservoir’s existing aluminum roof and CSPE liner, as well as miscellaneous concrete repairs and structural steel additions; epoxy coating of exposed concrete; installation of a new CSPE liner and aluminum standing seam roof. The reservoir is divided into two 7.5-million-gallon bays.  Each bay was scheduled to be rehabilitated in consecutive years. Despite material delays, primarily related to the new standing seam roof installation, the first bay was completed one month ahead of schedule. With this success, Tucson Water requested a shorter outage and construction period for the second bay the following year.  KE&G worked with our client to coordinate a one-month shortening of our schedule. Once again, our team successfully completed the second bay one week ahead of schedule, even with the shorter outage duration.
